I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding this booking I made through your platform for a stay at the Paramount Hotel, New York.
At the time of booking, there were no clearly disclosed additional charges mentioned. It was only shortly before my departure — upon reviewing my booking — that I noticed unexpected fees applied by the hotel. I contacted Trip.com immediately, hoping for clarification, but unfortunately, your team was unable to explain why these charges were not made transparent at the point of booking. I was simply informed that the charges had been presented during the booking process.
Regrettably, I did not take a screenshot of the booking page to prove otherwise. Given the proximity to my travel date and not wanting to face the inconvenience of finding another hotel at short notice, I had no choice but to proceed with the reservation and absorb the additional charges — which I had not budgeted for.
This experience was disappointing and stressful. The lack of pricing transparency is both misleading and unfair to customers, especially when traveling to a different country. It caused unnecessary anxiety and could have been easily avoided with clearer communication at the point of booking. I urge Trip.com to review how hotel fees and additional charges are displayed, and to ensure that customers are fully informed before confirming their reservations.
That said, I would like to acknowledge that the actual stay at the Paramount Hotel was pleasant. The hotel is well-located — just a few steps away from Times Square and Broadway theatres. The New York City subway system is very accessible from the property and is a far better option than taxis or e-hailing services due to heavy traffic. While the hotel is an older property and the elevators can be slow during peak times, it offers charm and convenience. There’s a great pizza spot next door, and live music in the lobby bar on some nights adds a nice touch.
I hope Trip.com will take this feedback seriously and make improvements to ensure a more transparent and customer-friendly experience in the future.
